John Michael Osbourne, popularly known as Ozzy Osbourne, was born on December 3, 1948 in Aston, England. At the age of fifteen, he left school and worked for a series of petty jobs, before he was imprisoned for burglary. After his release from prison, he joined a friend’s band but eventually he went on to join another group called Earth, which later became Black Sabbath. When Black Sabbath released their debut album on February 13, 1970, the band developed an immediate cult following in Britain as well as America. Soon afterwards, Osborne became dependent on drugs and alcohol. However his wife Sharon Arden helped to turn his life around by encouraging him to embark on a solo career. His solo debut ‘Blizzard of Ozz’, released in 1980, was a great success and achieved platinum status. Osborne was awarded a Grammy Award in 1994. His career has spanned over four decades and his success and longevity earned him the unofficial title of “Godfather of Heavy Metal.” He has six children – one adopted and five biological. Ozzy Osborne is known for wearing the cologne Green Irish Tweed.
