Rod Stewart, a British singer and songwriter was born on January 10, 1945 in Highgate, London. He was discovered by British blues pioneer John Baldry in a train station in 1964, who invited Stewart to join his band – The Hoochie Coochie Men. Stewart is popularly renowned for his signature raspy voice and he performed in many UK-based bands in the 60s before switching on to a solo career in 1971. “Maggie May” was his first single hit. Having sold more than 100 million records all over the world, he became one the best selling artist of all times. He won a Grammy Award for the album “Baby, its Cold Outside” in 2004. In 2007, Stewart was awarded the CBE at Buckingham Palace for his services to music. He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005. In his personal life, Stewart was married to Alana Stewart between 6 April 1979 and 1984. On 15 December 1990, he married Rachel Hunter. The couple divorced on 2 November 2006. He married Penny Lancaster on 16 June 2007. Stewart has eight children, six from his three marriages, one with an Art student Susannah Boffey in 1963 and one with model Kelly Emberg in 1987. Rod Stewart is known for wearing the cologne Gendarme.
