Emmanuelle “Emmy” Rossum was born on September 12, 1986 in New York City. She is an actress, singer and songwriter. Rossum began her career on the stage before getting into television, when she was 13. She appeared in six television series. Later, she moved on to films and rose to fame for her roles in “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The Day After Tomorrow”. In 2004, she won Critic’s Choice best young actress award. In 2010, Rossum was ranked 48th on Maxim magazine’s Hot 100. Her hobbies comprise of horseback riding, reading and ballet. She married Justin Siegel, a music executive, on February 17, 2008 but, they divorced on December 28, 2010. Rossum is currently starring in the popular Showtime series ‘Shameless’. She also works with several public service campaigns. She is an ambassador for YouthAIDS and a spokesperson for “PiNKiTUDE”- a campaign that raises breast cancer awareness. Rossum is also an environmentalist. Emmy Rossum is known for wearing the perfume Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf.
