Eric Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Ripley, United Kingdom. He is ranked as one of the greatest rock-and-roll guitarists of all time. He rose to fame with songs like “Layla,” “Wonderful Tonight” and “Crossroads.” Clapton was a guitarist in quite a few bands such as Yardbirds, Bluebreakers, Cream and many more. All through his distinguished career, he received seventeen Grammy Awards. He was also the recipient of the Brit Award, in 2004, for his Outstanding Contribution to Music. Clapton was honored with a CBE award at Buckingham Palace for his services to music. He was ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list. In his personal life, Clapton married Pattie Boyd in 1979 but, they divorced in 1988 after he was involved in an affair with an Italian model Lory Del Santo. Clapton and Santo had a son together. In 1984, Clapton was in a relationship with Yvonne Kelly and the two had a daughter. Later, Clapton dated many other women before marrying Melia McEnery in January 2001. They have two daughters.
