Lil Wayne was born as Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is popularly known by his stage name. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified his debut studio album – Tha Block Is Hot (1999) as platinum. His next albums such as Lights out (released in 2000) and 500 Degreez (released in 2002) were certified gold by RIAA. However, Lil Wayne’s most successful album was Tha Carter III (2008). The album sold more than one million copies in the first week itself. Lil Wayne surpassed Elvis Presley as the male singer with the most Billboard Hot 100 chart entries with 109 songs, on 27 September 2012. He won four Grammy Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards and four Billboard Music Awards among other awards. In November 2012, he announced that he will retire and Tha Carter V would be his last album since he wants to give time to his other interests. Lil Wayne was married to his high school girlfriend Antonia “Toya” Johnson. They married in 2004 but, divorced in 2006. Wayne had relationships with other singers and actresses and has four children. He is known to wear colognes by Creed.
