Ellen DeGeneres was born in Metairie, Louisiana on January 26, 1958. She is an American television host, stand-up comedian and actress. Ellen traveled across many states in an attempt to hone her comedy talent. In 1982, she was chosen as “America’s Funniest Person” by pay-cable station Showtime. This was followed by a series of late-night television and cable appearances. She also featured in several films. DeGeneres received the Saturn Award (Supporting actress) for providing the voice of Dory in the animated movie, Finding Nemo. Since 2003, DeGeneres began hosting her own award-winning, popular talk show – The Ellen DeGeneres Show. DeGeneres has also hosted the Primetime Emmys and the Academy Awards. In her personal life, DeGeneres is a lesbian and strongly advocates LGBT rights. She dated actress Anne Heche for several years but, after announcing a desire to be married the couple broke-up in August 2000. DeGeneres then started dating Alexandra Hedison before getting involved in a relationship with actress Portia de Rossi in 2004. Ellen and Portia, eventually, got married on August 16, 2008. DeGeneres was also named as a Special Envoy for Global AIDS Awareness by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in November 2011. Ellen DeGeneres is known for wearing Philosykos by Diptyque.
